Nation Poetry Writers’ Month (NaPoWriMo) 2016

314072_3853990543153_1949970522_nApril is poetry month. Welcome to 30 new daily poems by yours truly. Today is a free verse written in 21-syllable stanzas.  (Maybe there’s even a name for that…)

Where have you gone?

I peer behind the curly-edged,

shiny finish of

old photographs.

*

You’re there, face to the sun,

one hand in salute shields

your tender brown eyes

from the orange glare.

*

And I’m there,

tucked in the curl of your waist.

Within the pull of your gravity,

I’m safe.

*

But this last picture

is me alone, the sun

throws a lonely blue shadow

where you should be.
