2016 is a crisp sheaf of days to be filled with complications, kindnesses, and an abundance of charms. On new year’s eve there’s a hopefulness in the gift of weeks and months ahead. The pen is poised and we have an opportunity to lay down a life of beauty and gratitude.
I like to glide confidently into the new year knowing that when things are difficult, as they often are, there’s still the day’s first coffee, Beethoven, squirrels, Stanley Kubrick films, ghost stories, the moon, pets who adore us, ice cold martinis, the smell of rosemary, and a few people who get me. Your list may vary, but like mine, I’m sure you could also go on and fill a notebook with your favorite small pleasures. My wish is that your days are filled with these necessities.
