J.W. Hackett, on writing haiku, said: “Remember that haiku is a finger pointing at the moon, and if the hand is bejeweled, we no longer see that to which it points.”

Deep within the stream
the huge fish lie motionless
facing the current

 Indian pipes rise.

Pale ghosts, why hang your heads?

Shed the earth, look up.

  1. Aaaah, I love that so much! Wow. Every word is just…superb. And great use of the Hackett quote. I’d never heard that before, but it really gets the point across.
