NaPoWriMo Day 14: N is Niedecker

I love plain-spoken poems that make me pause and consider.  I was introduced to Lorine Niedecker’s work during the Modern Poetry in America MOOC  (linked here) a few Septembers back.  A Wisconsin native, her poetry is spare and sometimes cryptic and I’m a huge fan.

Hear
where her snow-grave is
the You
ah you
of mourning doves

~Lorine Niedecker

And without further ado, my NaPoWriMo poem-of-the-day:

 Love is messy and

those poems- a dime a dozen

(We can’t get enough.)

It’s sticky.

And no matter how sexy Neruda can be

Love is not a poem.
