I love plain-spoken poems that make me pause and consider. I was introduced to Lorine Niedecker’s work during the Modern Poetry in America MOOC (linked here) a few Septembers back. A Wisconsin native, her poetry is spare and sometimes cryptic and I’m a huge fan.

Love is messy and
those poems- a dime a dozen
(We can’t get enough.)
And no matter how sexy Neruda can be
Love is not a poem.
