April 6 – the view from here

NaPoWriMo Day 6.  Today’s prompt: write a poem influenced by the view from your window.

Somewhere inside

the bare-branched grey

of early spring,

the wind stopped

being our enemy.

And like that,

months of bitterness –

forgiven and forgotten.

I suppose it was the gifts…

the fine scent of warm earth

and— out of the blue—

the oratorio of a hundred songbirds.
